The compact CN23 features the latest Progressive Harmonic Imaging 88-key piano sampling technology, with 96 note polyphony and a variety of additional functions. This entry-level instrument utilises the new Responsive Hammer keyboard action, featuring KAWAI's Ivory Touch key surfaces to absorb moisture and aid control.

With a traditional furniture design and attractive Premium Rosewood, Cherry, Mahogany, and Black Satin finishes complementing the exceptional touch and authentic tone of this charming instrument, the CN23 truly establishes a new standard in digital piano performance, quality, and value.

TOUCH

The new Responsive Hammer keyboard action has been developed to represent the distinctive touch of a traditional grand piano, with its remarkable springless design providing consistent upward and downward motion for a smooth, more natural, piano playing experience. This improved action also features KAWAI's Ivory Touch key surface material, with the fine texture helping to absorbing moisture and aid control.

Moreover, just as acoustic pianos utilise heavier bass hammers and lighter treble hammers, the RH Action also employs different hammer weights, appropriately graded for each playing range. Such attention to detail allows greater stability during fortissimo passages, while preserving delicate pianissimo control, to satisfy the demands of even the most discerning pianist.

TONE

The new CN23 captures the beautiful sound of KAWAI's highly acclaimed, hand-built concert grand piano, with all 88 keys of this exceptional instrument meticulously recorded, analysed, and faithfully reproduced using the very latest Progressive Harmonic Imaging™ technology.

This unique process accurately recreates the broad dynamic range of the original piano, offering even greater tonal detail than the existing Harmonic Imaging™ standard, while also providing the source for a selection of additional high-quality instrument sounds. Finally, reverb and damper effects are applied, delivering rich tones with breathtaking realism and stunning authenticity.

FEATURES

The convenient lesson feature allows aspiring pianists to learn the piano using a built-in collection of etudes from Czerny, Burgmüller and Beyer, or songs from the popular Alfred Basic, Adult and Premier course books. The left and right hand parts of each piece can be practiced separately, adjusting the tempo to perfect difficult passages, before being recorded and played back for self-evaluation.

An intuitive recording function is also featured as standard across the CN Series range, with the CN23 capable of storing up to 3 recorder songs in memory.

In addition to these impressive internal features, considerable attention has also been paid to the external appearance of the CN23, with traditionally styled cabinet accents and beautiful Premium finishes combining to lend distinctive character to this exceptional instrument.

Perfect for beginning students and experienced players alike, the ARIUS Series provides true piano sound and feel. the Graded Hammer Standard keyboard of the YDP-140 make it a true joy to play, both in practice and in performance. The 3-level AWM Dynamic Stereo Sampling Voices deliver remarkably authentic sound. Moreover, the damper pedal includes a half-damper effect, giving you nuanced expressive control over the sustained sound. Dual Voice capability lets you play two different instrument sounds at the same time, while a song recorder allows you to capture your original musical ideas and performances.

Features

Graded Hammer Standard (GHS) Keyboard
Just as on a traditional acoustic piano, lower notes on a GHS keyboard have a heavier touch, while the higher ones are more responsive to lighter playing. The matte finish of the black keys enhances the keyboard's luxurious appearance.

Variable Touch Sensitivity
Select the hard, medium or soft setting to match your playing style or finger strength. Turn off sensitivity for a fixed response setting, ideal when playing the organ Voice.

Advanced Wave Memory (AWM) Dynamic Stereo Sampling
The AWM (Advanced Wave Memory) is a sampling system that creates the realism of an acoustic instrument by using digital technology to record the instrument sound and applying high-quality digital filter technology to the recorded audio samples. The waveform of the sound created by playing the key of an acoustic piano differs depending on the playing strength from pianissimo to fortissimo. The AWM Dynamic Stereo Sampling can produce such dynamic nuances by recording samples of various playing strengths. The greater the number of samples used, the higher the expression.

64-note Polyphony
Conventional digital pianos quickly run out of notes during fast, dense, legato passages - sustained notes are cut off as the instrument "steals" notes to make room for new notes. A maximum of 64 notes can be played at once.

Half-Pedal Control
The built-in continuous or "half-damper" pedal allows for increased nuance and subtlety during sustained passages. This is done by allowing continuously increasing amounts of note sustain from slight to full, just like an acoustic piano.

Song Recorder
The built-in, 2-track song recorder allows you to record 2 independent parts. For example, you could record yourself playing the left-hand part on one track and the right-hand part on another. This is a great way to learn how to play a difficult piece, one hand at a time. You could also record a string part on one track and a piano part on the other, an easy way to hear song and arrangement ideas.

Best of all, you can change tempo or Voices even after you've recorded your performance. Using MusicSoft Downloader and a compatible USB MIDI interface like the Yamaha UX16, you can transfer your user song to a personal computer for backup, printing with a scoring program or further editing using a MIDI sequencing program.

There's also a built-in metronome to help you stay in perfect time.
