CLP860
Dynamic Stereo Sampling AWM tone generation, 88-key GH keyboard with 4-position touch sensitivity, piano variations (classical, jazz, rock) and 64-note polyphony. Wooden cabinet with dark rosewood grain finish,10 voices + one variation for each, dual voice, digital reverb, digital effects, brilliance, recorder, 7 temprements, 40W x 2 amplifier, metronome, 3 foot pedals, MIDI, PC interface, sliding key cover, dual headphone jacks.
Dynamic Stereo Sampling AWM
AWM (Advanced Wave Memory) tone generation has long been recognized as the industry-leader for realistic sound. And now Yamaha sets an entirely new standard in realism with these, the first Clavinovas (and perhaps the first digital pianos in the world) to feature multiple samples. Nothing else comes closer to the sound of a grand piano than the new Dynamic Stereo Sampling for the grand piano, classical piano and jazz piano voices.
CD-Quality Samples of the Actual Instrument
Dynamic Stereo Sampling takes four CD-quality samples of the actual instrument - fortissimo, forte, mezzo forte and damped - for dynamic selection according to your touch on the keyboard. AWM then filters the selected sample so that both volume and timbre change as you play harder or softer, just like an acoustic instrument.
Advanced Wave Memory (AWM) (CLP880/880M/860/860M)
Because the original sample is close to what you play, AWM has less work to do, and so the sound is even more realistic. And it's this realism plus a wider dynamic range that makes these CLP Clavinovas sing, allowing you to give performances full of passion and expression.
Total Lifelike Keyboards
It took the experience gained over 100 years of crafting fine acoustic pianos to create Yamaha's latest masterpieces: the GH (Graded Hammer Effect) and HE (Hammer Effect) keyboards.
Graded Hammer Effect (GH) and Hammer Effect (HE)
These keyboards offer the sensitive touch response that makes Yamaha the industry leader in digital pianos, plus a unique extra: instead of using springs or oil dampers to simulate the feel of an acoustic piano, the GH and HE keyboards use actual weights and mechanical linkages to bring an entirely new level of realism.
Hammer Effect (HE)
Play the HE keyboard on the CLP820/810 for even a few seconds and you'll notice the difference.
Graded Hammer Effect
For the ultimate in lifelike feel, the CLP880/880M/860/860M/840 feature the GH keyboard, with the weighting of the keys graded from the heavier in the lower register to lighter in the higher register — just about as close as you can get to the real thing.
A Selection of Acoustic Pianos - In One (CLP880/880M/860/860M/840)
Now you can choose from a selection of acoustic pianos for even more musical realism. In addition to the superbly authentic grand piano voice, the CLP880/880M/860/860M/840 also feature a jazz piano voice — ideal for ensemble playing — with a very clear tone, and a rock piano voice to give you that hard, ringing sound so common in rock music.
Wide Range of Voices
To bring you the versatility your music requires, the new Clavinovas offer a wide selection of voices from pianos and electric pianos, to harpsichord, organ, strings, and more. Better yet, there's a second variation for each voice, effectively doubling the number of voices available.
PC Interface (CLP880/880M/860/860M/840/820)
Enjoy fast, easy connection to your Windows® or Macintosh® personal computer via the PC interface, without the need for costly additional hardware: a single cable is all it takes. And then you have access to a limitless world of music-making potential. Use your favorite sequencing software to record and play back your performances. Download the Clavinova's styles and store them in your PC. Use the wide range of playback software available for a new style of background music.
Computer Based Instruction (CLP880/880M/860/860M/840/820)
Take advantage of the many computer-based instruction software packages to teach yourself music theory or improve your playing.
Extended Polyphony
Conventional digital pianos quickly run out of notes in fast, dense legato passages: you can hear sustained notes being cut off as the instrument "steals" notes when you play a new one. With the new Clavinovas, though, Yamaha has given you the polyphony you need to take care of fast passages with many sustained notes. The CLP880/880M/860/860M boast an incredible maximum of 64-note polyphony while the CLP840/820/810 offer max. 32-note polyphony so you always have plenty of notes in reserve.
Digital Reverb
The built-in digital reverb simulates the way sound is reflected from the floor, walls and ceiling to add more depth and life to your music. You can choose from two different hall sizes, a medium-size room, or on-stage ambience (CLP880/880M/860/860M/840/820) or adjust reverb depth (CLP810) to get just the effect you want.
Digital Effects (CLP880/880M/860/860M/840)
Digital effects offer another way to further tailor sound to match your creative vision. Chorus, tremolo, symphonic and delay effects are all available to add greater richness and harmonic content to any voice you select. In addition, the brilliance effect allows you to continuously vary the timbre of a voice from mellow — ideal for laid-back jazz piano — to bright for "cutting" rock piano.
Dual Mode (CLP880/880M/860/860M/840/820)
Combine two voices with the dual mode and play them together — the effect can be truly magical. A favorite is strings and piano. Play staccato, and you just hear the piano voice. Play legato, and you'll also hear a beautiful halo of strings adding extra depth and richness.
Split Mode (CLP880/880M/860/860M)
Split mode effectively lets you play two separate instruments at once, one with your left hand and one with your right. Simply set the split point, and choose which instruments you wish to play — for example bass for your left hand and jazz piano for your right — and you're ready to play a duet with yourself.
Variable Touch Sensitivity (CLP880/880M/860/860M/840/820)
Adjust the keyboard's response to match your playing style or your finger strength. You have the choice of hard, medium or soft, allowing you to get exactly the response you want. There's also a fixed response setting to turn off touch sensitivity, ideal for playing the organ voice.
Seven Temperaments (CLP880/880M/860/860M/840/820)
Choose from the selection of seven temperaments (Equal, Pure Major, Pure Minor, Pythagorean, Mean Tone, Werkmeister and Kirnberger) to match the period of the music or to experiment in a modern context.
Recorder (CLP880/880M/860/860M/840/820)
The built-in, 2-track recorder allows you to record a backing track, and then step into the spotlight and solo over it. What's more, you can save your performances on your PC via the PC interface, or to an external MIDI recorder via MIDI. Best of all, you can change tempo or voices even after you've recorded your performance. There's also a built-in metronome to help you stay in perfect time.
